That's the sound as my year goes flying by at the speed of, um, well time I guess? I can't believe it's already the new year! So much craziness has happened in the last year! We had our first child in February, and he is an absolute joy! My poor wife was sick basically the whole pregnancy and on one of our first outings while she was pregnant, she almost passed out while checking out at Wal-Mart. Our (old) house (we will get to that in a second), was a total destruction zone from all the last time travelings before the baby was born to see family and do baby showers. We had holiday parties, family parties, the holidays themselves, birthdays etc. It was completely mad!
Did I mention I also had to change nephrologists in the middle of all this? My awesome nephrologist that I loved made the decision to practice medicine somewhere else and was unable to take her patients with her. So she had my records transferred to Nephrology Associates of Utah in Salt Lake City, which unfortunately I didn't like very much (not to the fact they were bad, I just didn't like them). So sometime in the summer I changed nephrologists again! Now I have one in Provo that I really like.
We've also moved! We moved out to Salt Lake City in July to take a new job! We decided that it was time to move out to be close to more family and that I needed a job that worked with my school schedule. I started school January 2016 and I've been through two terms at Western Governors University (WGU). Great school, I love how it works and how the classes are setup. Although I have struggled to get through a few of the classes, I feel I'm getting the hang of it. Now if I can just pass my CCNA exam! GAH!
We sold our house and moved out here after I accepted a job working for the LDS Church. Selling our house was probably the single most stressful thing we though we would have to do. Roosevelt was experiencing a down economy because of the oil drop out. Realtors were telling us we'd be waiting months if not a year to try and sell our house if we wanted to make profit off of us, or we could lose 20-30,000 dollars and sell it quickly.
We decided to list it on Zillow for sale by owner and find a realtor later. We did this about 12 am on a Monday morning. About 9 hours later, I get a call from my wife, all excited and hyped up telling me that there was a lady who had come to the door a few minutes before and had told my wife that her broker had some clients that were interested in our house. She wanted me to come home and get the house ready for the clients to come over. I raced home and I don't know where everything went, but we got our house into decent shape for the people to come view our house.
They came and looked at it and the next day offered the full price. We were stunned! We thought that they were going to counter and offer less. We actually talked with the realtor we decided to hire and got a deal worked out with him to make sure we would at least break even and not owe any money. We countered with a $1,000 more and they accepted! We had sold our house in 48 hours. We couldn't believe it. Everything went through and 30 days later the buyers closed on the house and our little green house was no longer ours.
What an answer to prayers! I'm still not sure how it all worked out, and even our realtor was completely dumbfounded that we had done it so quick. He also said that the buyers and himself were impressed that even after 4 years of living in our house that the house still smelled brand new. He wanted to know if we had found a new house smell. Good laugh, a very good laugh at that.
Anyways, back to the PKD stuff. We went two months ago to my appointment and everything is looking good. They have me on one pill and they up'd the mg amount because they said they have found if they increase the amount as time goes on, they see a slowing of the cyst growth! The mg amount is still a "baby" amount according to the doctor and pharmacist, so I'm not too concerned with being on it. He also wants me drinking 3 liters of water a day. This is a really hard thing to do if I lose my water bottle. Otherwise, it's actually a very easy thing to do! :D
